Vehicle and Personal Safety
You may not think of commercial driving as a particularly dangerous profession. However, drivers do need to be vigilant about their own safety and the security of their vehicle. It is not unheard of for professional drivers to have their vehicles stolen or broken into. Here at Driver Hire Uxbridge, we offer vehicle and personal safety training to ensure that, whether your driver is operating a delivery van or an articulated lorry, they know exactly how to protect themselves and their vehicle from harm.
Vehicle and personal safety training from Driver Hire Uxbridge
Staying safe as a professional driver is all about maintaining strict security practices and being aware of any ‘weak spots’ or ‘target areas’ on a vehicle. It is also crucial that a driver carries out a thorough check of their vehicle every time they are about to get behind the wheel, as this will make sure that no security issues are overlooked. Another essential part of personal safety is making sure your drivers have the resources they need to be able to protect themselves should an intrusion or attack occur while they’re on duty.
The module lasts for three and a half hours, during which time your drivers will learn about:
- Personal safety
- Driver fitness
- Smuggling and personal allowances
- Driver and passenger safety
- Personal safety when carrying dangerous goods
- Vehicle security
- Keeping loads secure
- Preventing clandestine entrants
The module can be used in combination with another half-day module to make up a full day (seven hours) of training, which can be used toward the training requirement for the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC). We offer a wide range of half-day CPC modules for your drivers to choose from, including city driving, emergency first aid, dealing with on-road occurrences, and vulnerable road users. Flexible course delivery
We are fairly flexible in terms of how our modules are delivered. You do not need to enrol an entire fleet of drivers – we are able to provide training for smaller groups or even single drivers from your company. This can either take place at our purpose-built training facility in Uxbridge, or, if it’s easier for you, we can deliver the module at your company’s premises.
